Come watch the magic tonight!

It has been a busy week on campus with our spring sports teams holding tryouts. Each of the four spring teams have had great numbers of student-athletes come out to practice.  But the story of the week is undoubtedly the Varsity Soccer team. The Cubs traveled to #10 ranked Esperanza High School in Anaheim on Wednesday for a 1st round CIF playoff game. The Cubs trailed 1-0 for most of the match after an early Aztecs goal. However, with just less than ten minutes remaining Maddie Frealy '24 struck first to tie the game and then just over a minute later, Mia Cunningham '24 gave Mayfield a 2-1 lead with another goal. The Cubs held on for the final, frantic moments to give Mayfield a thrilling come from behind playoff victory over the Aztecs. Mayfield will look to continue the magic tonight when the Cubs host #7 Corona Del Mar at St. Francis High School (SFHS) at 5:00 p.m. The girls are counting on a boisterous, red-clad cheering section, so plan on coming to SFHS tonight for a great game and cheer on Mayfield!
